Brisbane’s bureau^proberts have wasted little time getting their feet back under the desk in 2024, announcing a number of new appointments and a move from their former office.
Kelly Geldard has been elevated to Senior Partner, while the practice has welcomed three new Partners: Dan Liddy, Nathan Lane and Andrew Bell.
Joining bureau^proberts in 2000, Geldard’s leadership has been an asset to the practice for many years. Named as a Partner in 2020, the practice regards her client engagement, creative problem solving and ability to navigate complex briefs as second to none.
“I’m excited to step up to the role of Senior Partner and I look forward to a strong future of bureau^proberts,” Geldard says.
“We have a great team with amazing clients, so I’m excited to see what the coming years bring.”
Dan Liddy joined the practice in 2015 and has been involved in a number of significant projects, namely the Australian Pavilion at Expo 2020 in Dubai. His work in the high-end multi-residential sector has led to a number of record-breaking market sales, while he has also been involved in a design leadership capacity for a suite of commercial builds, including 251 Wickham Street, Ferny Grove Transport Orientated Design and the Triplets at 62 Mary Street.
Nathan Lane has been on board for nine years, credited in the design and delivery of Walan, 77 Jefferson, Brisbane 1, Natura and the Australian Pavilion. His promotion to the role of Partner is a step up from his previous role, where he was Head of Production for three years.
Andrew Bell also joined nine years ago, and played key roles in designing the likes of Canvas, York, Vaucluse, Beach House and North developments. A number of Andrew’s projects have been recognised for their high-quality design, including Minka Twins (shortlisted at the World Architecture Festival Awards) and the Australian Pavilion.
On Liddy, Lane and Bell, bureau^proberts Managing and Creative Director Liam Proberts says he is delighted to have the three design professionals assisting in guiding the practice’s long term direction.
“Andrew, Nathan and Dan are talented individuals and strong contributors to bureau^proberts projects and culture and it’s great to see their important roles in the practice recognised in this way,” he says.
“I’m excited to see what other new ideas and thinking they bring to the practice.”
The firm’s new office, located at Level 14, 100 Creek Street Brisbane, is a reflection of the practice’s revolution. The design, constructed by Rork Projects Brisbane, maintains the integrity of the base building while creating an inspiring place for the team. The building is one of the first in Brisbane to utilise full floor curtain wall glazing, which allows for excellent natural light, while being located close to Central Station and public transport.
The monochromatic green colour scheme, warm lighting and planting provides a soothing and calm space to work in. The studio-style work area is located along the northern edge of the space, providing natural light and views towards Fortitude Valley. Proberts describes the new outpost as “the creative engine for us as we seek to provide value for our clients through design-led outcomes”.
